IABA August Recap
Hello from the Italian American Business Association Board of Directors,
Ciao, Kudos' to all who helped on the IABA'S 2nd annual picnic last Sunday at Prospect Park to make it such a success. What a great turnout!!! The food you all brought was really remarkable. There were so many fantastic dishes. The grilled eggplant by Tony Polisi, the squash casserole and home made peach pie topped my list (friend of the Yannacito's) Sandi's meatballs Yummmmm! Many numerous salads and trays. It was a feast! I always love to see and hear the fun and laughter accompanied when we get together and of course, no one goes hungry.
Special appreciation goes out to Pam Vecchiarelli and Phil and Nikki Dardano Vigil and Bobby and their family's for really pitching in and making this happen. Also thanks to all the other volunteers that also pitched in and helped, Chris Amato (and by the way, weren't those pasta and meat skewers fantastic?! What a cook you are Chris) Ellen Lombard and husband Benny, and anyone else I may have missed, we thank you so much. Also, once again thanks to your Board of Directors and their families who always pitch in and help with set up, cleanup and overall support. You guys are terrific.
A special thanks goes out to Theda and Clyde Archer for donating the sausage and peppers, Nobel Cisco for the hoagie buns, and to Mary Jo Haynes of Antoinette's Pasta Sauce for donating the sauce to complete it and of course thanks to Gary Licata and Mary Lombardi-Dye for cooking it all. Other contributors that made the day special for us was Jess Gerardi for bringing and donating all the sodas and ice, Jennifer Esposito, for all the wonderful Espo's flavors of gelato, Dominic LoSasso for the great picnic flier and to Phil Fiore for the bottle of wine and to Pam Vecchiarelli and Standard Supply for the picnic set of dishes as our door prizes. We gave the bottle of wine to our newest member Bob Lundell and the picnic set went to Mary Coffee because this was the first event she has been able to attend, so we welcome you both. And what a terrific way to end the day with a little Bocce Ball and music fun by Jess Gerardi and Rick Chinsici.
We hope to see you all at the September, Friday the 25th, meeting at Mrs. Condies Salad Company. Watch for the flier on this. Come join us and play the new "Let's Get Acquainted Game" and share in some business leads. Italian-American Heritage October Special Event was announced at the Picnic and tickets are on sale now for this great evening. Watch for the flier on this also!!!
Regards, Mary Dye, President and the Board of Directors
